Flight to South America via Madrid - there has to be a drama!
The day started by us checking the flight progress from Heathrow to Madrid to find delays and cancellations...! Were a bit concerned Matthew and Katie would miss the connecting flight to Bogota - and they so nearly did!
Just arrived in time to run to the Bogota flight in Madrid as it was boarding and were allowed on without a boarding pass! Thankfully landed in Bogota without any further problems...... except lots of questions were asked at immigration (two dodgy looking 'students'!) - where were they staying, how long for etc. Katie forgot her Spanish but luckily Matt didn't - having said that, neither of them knew where they were staying in Colombia so quite surprised they made it through!
Not yet seen much of Bogota but will explore tomorrow. Staying in a lovely hotel - best part is the chocolate fountain in reception!
Ian has been moaning all day, started with having to pay $40 each departure tax out of Quito, and have to pay the same in 10 days time when we fly home - also he is moaning now food more expensive as he will have to pay for 4 each time and not sure Bogota is the place to 'go local' with the restuarants for dinner.
Great to be all together though after these weeks away - well that's how it feels at the moment!

Good job Katie had her brother with her to get her out of trouble. Glad you are altogether and Ian will have enough money for the rest of the trip. You could always go back to basics and eat Bread, Cheese, and Water.
