How do you make a VW Golf rattle?

We had a quiet morning (or Ian did) packing up the rucksacks again (still heavy!), skypeing Mum, getting the bus tickets for the next day and then collecting our VW Golf (or Gol as they are known here) for our road trip around the 7 lakes to San Martin. Lovely scenery as we drove around the lakes, mostly tarmac road except for the 42 kms of dirt track!! That's how you make a VW Golf rattle!
Everywhere so quiet, probably only saw about 20 cars on the dirt track. Scenery ranged from the Alps, to Scotland to the Wild West of America - see the photo below for the perfect ranch for horse lovers.

Arrived in San Martin des Andes at around 5.30pm with just the name of a small hotel from the Lonely Planet guide. Walking in the Hotel del Lago was like walking into your grandmother's house - friendly, too much heating, blankets, candlewick bedspreads and green bathrooms - but really nice people & great value at £25 with breakfast.

Next day up early for the drive back to Bariloche - took the long way back but faster roads (no dirt track). Different scenery altogether and saw condors, what looked like flamingos and deer that were trying to look like llama's.

Then onto the 3.30pm bus to Mendoza for the 17 hour journey!
